God’s Generals in Malawi
Pastor Takondwa Thomson and his wife Cecelia, together with their three beautiful children, are faithfully serving the Lord in Malawi and doing an outstanding work in God’s Kingdom.
One of the most impactful areas of their ministry is within the prisons, where gatherings often reach up to 400 inmates at a time.
These opportunities have borne much fruit, with many precious souls coming to Christ — including a remarkable number from Muslim backgrounds.
Alongside these large gatherings, Pastor Thomson also conducts one-on-one pastoral counselling with both men and women, bringing encouragement, healing, and hope to those behind bars.
Originally from South Africa, though Malawian citizens, the Thomson family has been serving as full-time missionaries in Malawi since 2021. They were not sent by any organization but stepped out in obedience to God’s call, living by faith as they carry out His work.
Today, they are fully incorporated into the Co-Missions AFRICA network, where they head up and lead the ministry in Malawi.
The family lives near Lake Malawi, in the village of Chimbende.
Despite the weight of ministry, Pastor Thomson remains a devoted family man, always making time for his wife Cecelia, their firstborn son Tannil, and their youngest, their daughter Portia.
Flowing from a deep gratitude for God’s blessing and involvement in their lives, the Thomsons offer their hands willingly to whatever task is set before them.
Whether it is Sunday school, prison ministry, pastoral counseling, farming, construction, or countless other engagements, they serve wholeheartedly — living out the principle of Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
